PPR Reducing Elbow in Kenya

A PPR reducing elbow turns a PPR line and changes pipe size in one fitting.

It saves a separate reducer. As a result, the layout is shorter and has one joint less.

What is a PPR reducing elbow?

A PPR elbow turns a PPR pipe run, usually through 90 or 45 degrees. Plain elbows have two fusion sockets, while threaded elbows have a brass thread on one end for taps and valves.

Because each joint is fused, PPR elbows do not leak at threads or rust. Special types include reducing elbows, elbows with a wall support and double elbows.

PPR: Polypropylene random copolymer, a plastic made for hot and cold water pipes. It joins by heat fusion.
Socket fusion: Heating the pipe end and fitting socket on a welding machine, then pushing them together so they fuse into one piece.
PN rating: The pressure class, such as PN16, PN20 or PN25. A higher PN has a thicker wall for hot water and higher pressure.
Outside diameter (OD): PPR is sized by outside diameter in mm, such as 20, 25, 32, 40, 50 and 63 mm.
Brass insert: A threaded brass part moulded into a PPR fitting, so it can connect to metal threads.
Wall elbow: An elbow with a fixing plate, used to mount a tap or shower outlet on a wall.
