An HDPE reducer tee takes a smaller branch off a larger polyethylene main. It is ideal for service connections and irrigation laterals.
Give us the run and branch sizes in mm. Then we will confirm what is in stock.
What is an HDPE reducer tee?
An HDPE reducer tee, or reducing tee, has a branch smaller than the main run. It takes a small service line straight off a larger main.
Because it reduces in one fitting, it avoids a separate reducer. As a result, the branch is shorter, neater and has fewer joints that could leak.

Key terms explained
- HDPE
- High-density polyethylene, a tough, flexible plastic used for water and gas pipes.
- PE100 and PE80
- Grades of polyethylene. PE100 is stronger, so pipes can have thinner walls for the same pressure.
- PN rating
- Pressure Nominal, the working pressure in bar, such as PN10 or PN16.
- SDR
- Standard Dimension Ratio: outside diameter divided by wall thickness. A lower SDR means a thicker, stronger wall.
- Butt fusion
- Joining two HDPE pipe ends by heating them and pressing them together.
- Compression fitting
- A fitting that seals on the pipe with a nut, split ring and rubber O-ring, with no heat needed.
Features and benefits
- Smaller branch outlet in one fitting.
- Fewer joints than a tee plus reducer.
- Compression or fusion joints.
- Corrosion-free body.

Applications of an HDPE reducer tee
- Service connections. Takes a small house line off a larger main.
- Irrigation laterals. Feeds smaller laterals from a sub-main.
- Trough feeds. Supplies a trough from a farm main.
- Tap stands. Feeds a standpipe from a main.
- Gauge points. Provides a small branch for a gauge or sample tap.
- Estate plots. Feeds each plot from a distribution main.
- Greenhouse drip lines. Feeds drip headers from a larger main.
- Air valve branches. Provides a branch for an air release valve.
How to choose and install
- Give the run size first, then the branch size, in mm.
- Check both sizes against your pipe OD.
- Fit a valve on the branch.
- Support the branch so it does not strain the tee.

Frequently asked questions
What is an HDPE reducer tee for?
It branches a smaller line off a larger main without a separate reducer.
What details do you need to quote HDPE reducer tees?
Tell us the size in mm or inches, the pressure rating (PN) and the quantity. A photo of the old part, a nameplate or a drawing also helps. Then call or WhatsApp 0726 086 895, or use the quote form on this page.
Do you deliver HDPE reducer tees outside Nairobi?
Yes. We supply customers across Kenya, and we also serve buyers in Uganda and Tanzania. Delivery or courier arrangements are agreed when you confirm the order.
How much does a HDPE reducer tee cost in Kenya?
The price depends on the size, the pressure rating and the quantity. Therefore, send your list with a quote request and we will reply with current figures.
Can HDPE reducer tees be buried?
Yes. HDPE is well suited to burial. Bed it in sand or fine soil and keep sharp stones away.
Do HDPE reducer tees resist sunlight?
Black HDPE contains carbon black, which protects it from UV. Even so, burying or shading pipe extends its life.
How do I order a reducer tee?
Give the main size and the branch size, for example 50 x 25 mm.
Can I use a reducer tee instead of a saddle?
Yes, on new work. On an existing main, a saddle avoids cutting the pipe.
Does the smaller branch reduce flow to the main?
No. It only limits the flow taken by the branch.

reducing tee sizes
Sizes are written run x branch, for example 63 x 32 mm.
reducer tee vs saddle clamp
A reducer tee is fitted when the main is cut. A saddle clamp taps an existing main.
HDPE reducer tee price in Kenya
Prices change with size, model and quantity. Request a quote from Sparks Plumbing Experts for current figures.
HDPE vs PVC pipe
HDPE is flexible and fusion or compression jointed. PVC is rigid and glued.
HDPE vs PPR pipe
HDPE suits buried cold water mains. PPR suits hot and cold water inside buildings.
HDPE pipe sizes in mm
HDPE is sized by outside diameter, for example 20, 25, 32, 50, 63, 90 and 110 mm.
PN10 vs PN16 HDPE
PN16 pipe has a thicker wall and is rated for higher pressure than PN10.
